Dock Fishing New Year’s 2020
Natalie and I decide to join our dear friend Amy on a fun New Years Day fishing trip. Since the winds were a little high we agreed to fish some docks for whatever we could find.
We met up in St. Pete at sunrise to go over our game plan then quickly unloaded our kayaks and headed out before the boat brigade showed up!
We reached our destination after a short paddle and began to fish. We didn’t get anything for about an hour before the bite started. Amy was the first one with a bent rod and broke the ice with a huge lizard fish! Not quite the species we prefer but what the heck, right?
As the day progressed, so did the bite. Numerous small Mangrove Snapper, Puffer Fish, Speckled Trout, Flounder and my first Snook of the Year at 32″! Natalie even got a Mullet to eat!
All the action was short lived lasting about an hour or so and then it all just quit. That’s when we decided to call it quits and head back in. All together we did’t have such a bad day at all. Too bad we didn’t find any Redfish but it was still a great time!
